What is Energy Medicine

Energy medicine is working to remove any obstacle of the body, mind, soul, and spirit by easing, lifting, and cleansing the body’s energies to promote healing.

¨True healing is nothing less than an awakening to a vision of our healed nature.¨

What is Energy Medicine

Dr. Carter practices energy medicine as taught by the traditional medicines and healers of North and South America. Energy medicine is a wonderful complementary therapy to acupuncture, chiropractic, and massage, but also effective form of healing by itself. This work is safe for all ages and conditions.

Traditional or indigenous healers work with the body, mind, soul, and spirit as one, but also as distinct and separate sources of dis-ease. That makes energy medicine great for a wider range of physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual concerns you wish to work through.

During energy work, clients can experience a wide range of emotions, crying, releasing of old feelings, visualizations, body warmth, cooling, tingling sensations, deep relaxation, mental clarity, or nothing at all. These are all completely normal and are very much part of the healing process. It’s good to process and notice these things as they happen, but not to obsess about what they mean or why they are happening.

After energy work, many experience a deep sense of calm, softness, lightness, and clarity for days, weeks, months, even years.

More about Energy Medicine and how it works:

¨In energy medicine, shamans consider the human being to be composed of body, mind, soul and spirit. You can engage the world from anyone of these four perspectives because they become different levels of reality or dimensions of engagement in the world. There is an understanding in energy medicine that we have a luminous light body surrounding our physical body. It can tell us how we live, how we age, how we heal and how we might die.¨

Native American healers have practiced energy medicine for thousands of years. Some say even much longer. Physical ailments, when there isn’t some forceful or blunt trauma, are often the last to come to the surface.

If you’ve done acupuncture, chiropractic, massage, or other alternative healing practices, you may have had an experience where a particular emotion comes up when working on a certain muscle or a certain area of your body.

Over time emotions, thoughts, habits, and traumas can accumulate in our bodies. All of that needs to come out or that disease will start to interrupt the normal body functions. That’s when disharmony starts to show symptoms and signs of a disease we can recognize in the physical body.

Ideally, we start to work on releasing these areas of built of trauma, emotion, or dis-ease, before they start to cause widespread or systemic health issues.

More and more western doctors are finding how stress is playing a role in all disease. Many of the best practitioners even suggest that stress is where all disease starts. Everything from impatience on the road building up to rage, to holding a resentment against someone who may have inadvertently caused you harm. There are many stressors. We all run into them.

Too often we wait until all the anger, hostility, rage, etc. builds up until we release them with yelling and words that we don’t necessarily mean or want to say to others. The mouth and words are just one way of releasing these emotions. Think of it as an exit point or a channel to release the built-up energies.

With the training and learning Dr. Carter has done with the traditional medicines of North and South America, there are other channels that we can start to release these built up energies. We want to start to release them before they begin to spill over into all areas of our lives. Not only creating disease, symptoms, or health problems in our own life, but also those of our loved ones, our families, our friends, and those we care most about.

I don’t imagine anyone really wants to cause harm to those around them, nor do we want to pass on those traumas and emotions to others. Particularly those closest to us.

Often times we are being held hostage to things we don’t even realize are there until they are released, and suddenly we become lighter, free of some weight, or burden that has now disappeared.

With energy we can sense that something isn’t quite right, but we don’t know what. That’s where I step in to help discover what and where, sometimes we don’t even need to know what it is, just to release it, let it go with the wind, and move on from it.
